Å lære av kunstneren: Fullmåne i bevegelse

Trondheim kunstmuseum's exhibition with works from the collection:

Learning From the Artist 2023-2028

With this exhibition, Trondheim kunstmuseum wishes to present an alternative to the traditional, chronological museum exhibition, which is often organized around canonical works and highlights. The artwork exists both in its chronology, as part of a collection, and at the same time separate, in terms of its materiality and aura.

Over the years, Trondheim kunstmuseum has collaborated with many artists in working with our collection: In a series of dialogue exhibitions with contemporary artists, in the event series The Artist's Choice, and the exhibition Martin Tebus Collection, our largest presentation of the collection to this date.

The artists' approach can teach us to see society and history in new ways. Through their methods and perspective, blind spots can be uncovered and untold stories in the collection brought to the fore. For this exhibition, we have asked artists Tobias Liljedahl, Veslemøy Lilleengen, Edith Lundebrekke and Enrique Roura to curate one room each, based on their contributions to The Artist's Choice. Martin Tebus has been invited to reinterpret some of the rooms from Martin Tebus Collection.

The exhibition shows different themes chosen by artists with widely different practices and perspectives. With this, we hope to encourage active engagement with the works in our collection. A work of art can teach us more than just art history.
